Our River Watch Discovery Program
See below for highlights of our 2013 Sampling & Stay Tuned for Summaries of Most Recent Testing Program & our Adopt a Stream Program

2013 Battenkill Conservancy’s River Watch Program

Biological stream sampling occurred on September 17, 2013 at the following stations:
  1. Battenkill station BATT 48.2
  2. Battenkill station BATT 47
  3. Steele Brook station STEE 01
  4. Battenkill station BATT B
  5. White Creek station WHCR 05
  6. Battenkill station BATT 03

All stations have been previously sampled in prior years either by NY DEC, VT DEC, or the Battenkill Conservancy. Based on field assessed benthic macroinvertebrate community structure water quality is very good at all six stations. The final water quality determination for each station however will be based on lab analysis of the benthic macroinvertebrate community structure following lab protocols and multi metric analysis established by the NYS and VT DEC biological stream units. Final data results will then be compared to prior year assessment results to monitor the water quality trends of each station.

A map of the 2013 sampling station locations, provisional habitat and water assessment data, and station photos are included in the Preliminary 2013 River Watch Report.  Battenkill Conservancy will be hosting a summary presentation of our past River Watch testings in February 2017. Stay tuned for details.
