Outdoor Adventure Trip (OAT)

Our Outdoor Adventure Trip "OAT" has been exposing young middle school students to the river's ecology and the watershed's environmental richness for over ten years.

Begun by our River Watch Coordinator, Kelly Nolan, the program is a combination of camping skills, environmental science, water safety and all around river fun for students between the ages of 11-15 years of age. The Long Lodge at Battenkill Valley Outdoors serves as home base for the campers with daily hikes and trips to surrounding ponds, forests and the river.

Registration for the 4 day, 3 night OAT is kept intentionally low to encourage all applicants to participate: $250 for the full program including all fees, equipment, insurance and food. BkC has been able to run the program with support from Stewarts Shops' Holiday Match and member support.

For 2017, we will plan to offer full scholarships valued at $500 each to area youth groups participants. Your year-end tax deductible gift of $250 will enables us to offer the program to even more area youth. Please donate to our year end appeal and simply designate your gift to OAT!
