January – 2nd Annual Full Moon Hike – 45+ plus snowshoers & xc skiers came out to enjoy a snowy evening with bonfire & snacks hosted by board member, Jan Wolski. Stay tuned for this year's event in late January.
February- our long time RW Coordinator, Kelly Nolan produced and presented another informative and important River Watch report based on the water quality testing of sites along the Battenkill from Manchester to the Greenwich Town Beach.
March - Eagle Watch with over 50 birders & a caravan of 15 cars saw 2 eagles in Salem, 2 copulating eagles in Easton & provided great photo opportunities for all!
April – we were chosen once again to be a recipient of the NYS's DEC Conservation Partnership Program, administered by the Land Trust Alliance.
Spring – Fly fishing tips in conjunction with our 1st Highway Clean Up done with Trout Unlimited.
May - our 4th annual BRTI Beach & Music Festival was bigger and better thanks to Board Member Lilly Lack's organizing skills; Jim Ballard for his stage production skills w/5 bands, and a special acknowledgement of Sally Tefft as recipient of the Battenkill Community Citizen Award.
June – thanks to BVO, & Advisory Board Members, Don & Lisa Otey, our Spring “Give Back by Taking Out River” Clean Ups got the river ready for the busy season and then we cleaned it up again in September!
July – our newest Board Member, Dan Bleier, was responsible for the "Love Your River" float that was in all the area parades including Greenwich Memorial Day, Salem 4th of July and Whipple City where we won best in show.
August – our Outdoor Adventure Trip filled up quickly with 15 kids with another 10 on a waiting list. Our third year Director, Randy Jennings put together an A+ team of assistants and counselors in training. We also offered 2 full scholarships to the Greenwich Youth Center.
Our outreach booth at the Washington County Fair attracted over river lovers and people who care about their watershed.
Summer Activities - Thanks to board member, Dan Albano, we shared our popular “Bug Table” with SCC's Lunch & Learn Program, the OAT participants and the families attending the BRTI Festival. The Bug Table along with the River Watch Discover Kit for Kids consisting of a simple with booklet & collection kit to teach the basics of water quality testing was enjoyed by more than fifty kids. Next year we hope to expand the program and offer it to GYC and other kid focused programs in the area.
